Bihar’s Growth Story: Minister Hails State’s Rise in NSO Report
Patna, Sep 12: Bihar Water Resources Minister Vijay Kumar Choudhary is all smiles after the latest National Statistics Organisation (NSO) report painted a bright picture for the state’s development. The report, covering the financial year 2024-25, shows Bihar leading the pack in growth rates, beating every state except Tamil Nadu.
"I’m thrilled, and every Bihari should feel proud of this," Choudhary told reporters on Friday. He pointed out how economic activities in Bihar have picked up speed, directly boosting per capita income. "Our per capita income jumped from Rs 68,690 in 2023-24 to over Rs 76,000 now. This comes from steady development under Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s guidance. For the first time ever, Bihar’s industrial sector has grown faster than agriculture— a big milestone for the state’s economy."
The minister didn’t hold back when it came to opposition politics. He slammed the Congress for their social media attacks on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s mother, calling it a sign of frustration among opposition parties. "This shows their disappointment loud and clear," he said.
On RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav’s comments about the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter lists, Choudhary struck a positive note. "Tejashwi finally gets why SIR matters. It’s great that he’s on board now— a good start for cooperation."
Tejashwi had also alleged crimes happening from the Deputy CM’s residence, but Choudhary dismissed it firmly. "Investigations always uncover the truth, no matter where crimes occur. Our government never hides facts. The key is catching the real culprits, arresting them, and ensuring punishment."
Choudhary also shut down claims of irregularities in forms for the so-called ‘Mai Bahin Maan Yojana’. "Real schemes come from the government, not party workers. If workers are handing out forms, that’s just fraud— plain and simple."
As elections loom, the minister addressed the usual buzz around ticket-seekers in political parties. "It’s natural for party workers to aim for contesting seats or key roles when polls approach. This happens every time. But our party always prioritizes its loyal, dedicated workers."
Bihar’s economic growth and political updates continue to make headlines, with the NSO report highlighting the state’s push towards faster development.
