In New Delhi, BJP leaders are set to meet this Sunday in the party’s central office to lock in the list of candidates for the Bihar assembly elections. The meeting was confirmed by senior sources on Saturday.
Earlier on Saturday, the BJP’s senior National Democratic Alliance (NDA) leaders gathered at the home of party president and Union minister JP Nadda. Key attendees included Union Home Minister Amit Shah, JDA chief Jitan Ram Manjhi, Bihar BJP’s in‑charge Vinod Tawde, chief Dilip Jaiswal and deputy chief minister Samrat Chaudhary. The group discussed how to divide seats among alliance partners.
The NDA coalition—comprising the BJP, Janata Dal (United) or JDU, Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), Hindustani Awam Morcha (Secular) and Rashtriya Lok Morcha—has been negotiating seat distribution. Representatives from each party will decide which constituencies each group will contest.
On the same day, the Lok Janshakti Party held a senior leaders’ meeting in the capital to fine‑tune its strategy for Bihar. Party MP Shambhavi Chaudhary said the party’s central parliamentary board, chaired by national president Chirag Paswan, reviewed the seat‑sharing plans. According to Chaudhary, the final decision will rest with Paswan once the board’s talks are complete.
Meanwhile, JDU working president Sanjay Kumar Jha remains confident that the alliance will win and that a Nitish Kumar‑led government will be sworn in on November 14, after the results are announced. Bihar’s elections will be held on November 6 and 11, with votes counted on November 14.
In short, the BJP and its allies are finalising who will stand where as Bihar’s voters head to the polls next month. The outcome of these negotiations will shape the state’s political future and determine whether Nitish Kumar retains his role as chief minister.
