Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha shared good news on Friday: his BJP government has created 20,036 government jobs so far, all handled with full transparency, including cases for families of deceased employees. The team is now rushing to fill open spots across departments to keep things moving.
At an event in Agartala’s Pragya Bhavan, Saha handed out job offer letters to new General Duty Medical Officers (GDMOs) and librarians. For healthcare, he gave offers to 214 GDMOs—142 men and 72 women—aiming to boost Tripura’s doctor-patient ratio. As a dental surgeon himself, Saha reminded the new doctors of their vital role. “Doctors are born to save lives,” he said. “Your respect comes from serving everyday people well. Remember your parents and mentors who helped you get here.”
Saha also celebrated education by distributing 12 librarian positions under the state’s Education Department. He highlighted the librarian shortage in schools, stressing that no school thrives without one. “Libraries build trust and spark curiosity,” Saha explained. “Kids go there to read books they can’t afford at home. With e-libraries and digital options growing, librarians play a huge role—just like teachers. They make sure books and resources are easy to grab.”
The chief minister, who oversees both health and education, repeated his message on doctor duties. “Prove yourself through strong service,” he urged. “A stethoscope is your true badge of honor.” Saha added that Tripura is working hard to match national standards from the National Medical Commission (NMC) and World Health Organization (WHO) for better patient-doctor ratios, with more hires on the way.
Key officials joined the event, including Health Secretary Kiran Gitte, Health Director Tapan Majumder, National Health Mission Director Saju Wahid A, Family Welfare Director Nirmal Sarkar, Agartala Government Medical College Principal Dr. Anup Kumar Saha, and Education Director N.C. Sharma.
