Thiruvananthapuram, Nov 4 – In a sharp political clash in Kerala, BJP’s Sobha Surendran attacked veteran CPI‑M leader E.P. Jayarajan over his new book, “Ithanente Jeevitham (That is My Life).”
Surendran’s criticism and a defamation promise
- The BJP woman said Jayarajan’s memoir should have been called “The Autobiography of a Thief.”
- She teased that if she had stayed at the government guest house in Thrissur longer, the BJP rally‑sash would have draped his neck.
- Surendran vowed to push the defamation case that Jayarajan filed against her to the final court, demanding a public apology – “draw the letter Ksha in court” – a Malayalam phrase meaning a forced confession.
Jayarajan’s accusations
- Jayarajan, who released his book in Kannur on Monday, claims Surendran tried to get a BJP ticket for her son.
- He says she met his son in Ernakulam, took his phone number, and kept calling about political plans.
- Surendran denied any “field‑bus” conversations, asking if Jayarajan had a mind‑reading machine.
Party tension after the book release
- Internal disputes in CPI‑M are surfacing after the book, as leaders say Jayarajan exposed controversies that were kept private.
- Key CPI‑M figures, including State Secretary M.V. Govindan, missed the release event, hinting at deeper rifts.
- Traditional CPI‑M practice forbids public airing of party disagreements, making the book a rare breach of protocol.
