The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) is on track to win over 200 of the 243 seats in the Bihar Assembly election, sparking celebrations across the country.
Blinking lights and fireworks lit up streets in Rewari, Haryana, and Viluppuram, Tamil Nadu, as BJP volunteers cheered the alliance’s projected victory. In Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, supporters set off crackers and displayed banners with PM Narendra Modi and CM Yogi Adityanath’s faces.
In Patna, the state’s BJP headquarters buzzed with fans who gathered to celebrate the clear lead. The trend continued in Bihar’s own districts: Bhojpur, Bhagalpur, and Patna saw crowds clap and chant as the NDA’s winning margin grew.
Even in Mumbai, Maharashtra, and South‑east Kolkata, West Bengal, BJP workers marked the good news, handing out sweets at the local offices while PBS screen feeds displayed the emerging results.
The early tally, posted by the Election Commission of India at 4 p.m., shows the BJP leading with 96 seats, followed by the Janata Dal (United) with 85. Counting began at 8 a.m., starting with postal ballots before moving to electronic voting machine (EVM) votes that followed under tight security across the state.
Leaders from both sides voiced confidence. The NDA said voters trusted Modi’s promises and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s work for Bihar’s development. Mahagathbandhan champions, led by Tejashwi Yadav, argued that the people have “voted for change” and hope for a new government led by Yadav.
As the tally climbs, the BJP‑led NDA looks set for a landslide win in the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections— a result that is already being celebrated across India.
