In Chennai, Tamil Nadu, former BJP president K. Annamalai made some bold predictions about Indian politics during a seminar on Wednesday. The event, called “Indian Dreams 2047 – New India! New Dreams!”, marked Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 75th birthday. Annamalai praised Modi for putting service first, no matter the occasion.
“Modi ji treats every day like a day of service,” Annamalai said, noting how the Prime Minister spent his birthday working in Madhya Pradesh. He took a light-hearted dig at flashy celebrations, joking that even putting rings on newborn babies in hospitals on Modi’s birthday would draw advice from Delhi to keep it low-key. This was a nod to BJP leader Nainar Nagendran, who handed out rings to newborns that day.
Talking about India’s changing political scene, Annamalai highlighted the BJP’s smart shifts – sometimes right-wing, sometimes left, or centrist. “That’s how the BJP has reshaped Indian politics, with PM Modi leading the charge,” he said. He added that the Congress party has faded into the background in this new era.
Looking ahead, Annamalai confidently declared that the BJP will dominate Indian politics for the next 25 years. “We’re working hard on growth and expansion to make that happen,” he assured.
Defending Modi against critics who call him a dictator, Annamalai drew a parallel to Singapore’s former Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew. “Lee was once seen as authoritarian, but today he’s hailed as a visionary. The same will happen with Modi ji – in 50 years, the world will celebrate his achievements.”
Annamalai also spotlighted Modi’s strong leadership. He called Modi the only leader to steer India through a war and still win elections. On the global stage, he pointed to big wins like building a Hindu temple in Abu Dhabi as proof of Modi’s influence.
Addressing complaints about Modi’s foreign trips costing a fortune, Annamalai brushed them off. “When Modi stays in Saudi Arabia, people say it’s ₹16 crore. But leaders like Putin or Kim Jong Un need the same security – that’s the global standard.” He stressed that Modi’s role as India’s Prime Minister requires top-level protection and respect, and critics just don’t get the weight of leading a giant like India.
