On the birth anniversary of socialist leader Jagdev Prasad, a big political rally took place in Sasaram, Bihar. Leader of Opposition Tejashwi Yadav organized this event at the New Stadium in Fazalganj to rally supporters and highlight the current political situation in the state.
During his speech, Tejashwi Yadav sharply criticized the ruling NDA government in Bihar. He called it a “junk government” that has “completed its life,” implying it has failed the people. Tejashwi targeted Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, saying that due to his age, he is no longer able to effectively lead Bihar.
Tejashwi also discussed statements made by Union Home Minister Amit Shah. He claimed that the BJP has already made it clear that Nitish Kumar will not become the Chief Minister again. “Nitish Kumar is stuck in the swamp, and the BJP will take revenge on him one by one,” Tejashwi said.
The opposition leader also attacked the BJP’s slogan of a “double engine government,” blaming one engine for corruption and the other for crime. He pointed out that the current government’s focus seems to be on issues like corruption and crime rather than development.
The rally was attended by various senior leaders from the RJD, including former ministers Alok Mehta and Anita Devi, MP Sudhakar Singh, and MLAs Rajesh Gupta and Fateh Bahadur Singh. The event was chaired by local RJD leader Shiv Shankar Kushwaha.
As Bihar prepares for the upcoming assembly elections, opposition parties are working hard to reach out to voters at the grassroots level. Sasaram, located in the Shahabad region, is a politically important area. Historically, this region has been a stronghold of the RJD and its allies, delivering impressive results in the 2020 elections.
The opposition sees Shahabad as a key region to build a broader statewide campaign. The area performed well in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections too, with winners from different opposition parties: Rajaram Singh Kushwaha from CPI-ML in Karakat, Sudhakar Singh of RJD in Buxar, and Sudama Prasad of CPI-ML in Ara. These victories have boosted the opposition’s confidence in turning Shahabad into a launching pad for their Bihar campaign.
Recently, Tejashwi Yadav and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi wrapped up their Voter Adhikar Yatra, starting from Sasaram — emphasizing the importance of this region in Bihar politics. Both sides are now ramping up their campaigns with promises of jobs, welfare schemes, and development projects. The Shahabad belt is set to witness intense political activity in the coming weeks as parties compete to win voter support before the election.
With promises from Nitish Kumar’s government to introduce large-scale jobs and welfare programs, the political battle in Bihar’s Shahabad region is heating up. Both opponents and the ruling coalition are focused on winning the hearts of voters in this crucial part of the state.
