Patna, Oct 25 – Bihar is gearing up for the November elections, and political chatter has ramped up. Lalu Prasad Yadav, the RJD chief, blasted the NDA government on Saturday, calling its claim that extra trains would move “passenger rush” during Chhath a “blatant lie.”
Lalu used the Chhath festival as a platform to hit home. “The uncrowned king of lies boasted that out of 13,198 trains in the country, 12,000 would run for Bihar during Chhath. That’s a lie,” he posted on social media. He said the trains have never really serviced Bihari migrants who have been traveling for 20 years under the NDA.
He also accused the NDA of neglecting Bihar’s development. “My fellow Biharis are forced to travel in inhumane conditions. Because of the wrong policies of the double‑engine government, more than 4 crore people leave Bihar each year for work. The NDA has done nothing to create major industry here. These people are anti‑Bihar,” Lalu said.
Earlier, Indian Railways announced that it would run over 12,000 special trains for Dussehra, Diwali, and Chhath to help migrant workers get home. But opposition leaders say the numbers are misleading and that people still face huge difficulties getting to their native places.
With nominations finished, Bihar’s first poll phase will be on November 6, followed by a second phase on November 11. Votes will be counted on November 14. Leaders from all major parties are touring the state, holding rallies and sharpening their messages as the election countdown intensifies.
