Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami tackled the recent UKSSSC exam paper leak head-on during a statement in Dehradun on Wednesday. He promised quick action from his government to keep recruitment fair and transparent for job-seeking youth in the state.
The incident hit the Uttarakhand Subordinate Service Selection Commission (UKSSSC) graduate-level competitive exam for 2025, sparking allegations of malpractice. Right away, officials arrested those involved and set up a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to dig into the whole process, according to the Chief Minister’s Office.
“We won’t let Uttarakhand’s young people suffer injustice,” Dhami said firmly. He pointed fingers at opposition parties, calling out their efforts to turn the scandal into political fodder. “They used students as a shield to stir up trouble,” he added. Dhami noted how rivals, who once doubted CBI and ED probes, now push for a CBI investigation just to score points.
To calm worried students and block any troublemakers, Dhami met with them personally. He assured everyone that a CBI probe would happen and all valid demands would get met.
Dhami highlighted Uttarakhand’s tough new anti-cheating law, the strictest in India, aimed at making job recruitments clean and shutting down cheating rings. Thanks to these steps, over 25,000 young people landed government jobs in the past four years—a big win. More than 100 members of the cheating mafia, who treated leaks like a business under past leaders, now sit behind bars.
Addressing critics who say the government caved to pressure, Dhami stood strong. “I’ll bow my head or even give my life to protect our youth’s future,” he declared.
The state has already kicked off a court-supervised probe into the UKSSSC mess to get to the bottom of things and rebuild trust in the system.
