Chandigarh Police Drivers Level Up with Elite NSG Training for VIP Security
In a smart move to ramp up security for VIP and VVIP visits, Chandigarh Police has wrapped up a week-long Tactical Driving Course for its drivers. This training comes at a perfect time as the city often hosts big names from India and abroad, making safe travel a top priority.
The course ran from September 8 to 13, 2025, and got a big thumbs-up from officials. It was led by Sagar Preet Hooda, IPS, the Director General of Police for U.T. Chandigarh. Inspector General Pushpendra Kumar, IPS, and Senior Superintendent Sumer Partap Singh, IPS (handling Security and Traffic), kept a close watch to ensure everything went smoothly.
What made this special? A team of crack experts from the National Security Guard (NSG), India’s top counter-terrorism unit, handled the training. The NSG pros included T/C Santosh Kumar, T/C Ashok Kumar P, AC-II/GD Ajit Singh, AC-II/GD Naveen Kumar, R-II/Dvr Sunil Prajapati, R-II/Dvr Laxman Bishnoi, R-II/Dvr Jaimon CM, R-I/Dvr Virender Singh, and R-II/Dvr Omprakash. Their expertise brought real-world skills straight from high-stakes operations.
A total of 45 Chandigarh Police drivers dove into this intense program. It focused on key skills like precision driving, evasive moves to dodge threats, convoy protection, controlling vehicles at high speeds in tough simulated scenarios, and quick responses to dangers. The goal? To make sure these drivers can handle VIP security and VVIP protection like pros, especially in motorcades under pressure.
Officials say the drivers shone bright, showing great discipline and quick learning. They nailed the tough standards set by the NSG team. With Chandigarh’s busy schedule of dignitary visits, this tactical driving training will boost the city’s overall preparedness. It helps keep movements safe and efficient, solidifying Chandigarh’s spot as a secure, well-run hub.
This step shows how seriously the Chandigarh Police takes VIP security, ensuring everyone’s ready for whatever comes next.
