In Patna on Wednesday, Chirag Paswan, chief of the Lok Janshakti Party (LJP), took a swipe at RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav. Paswan said Yadav’s promises to regularise contract workers and Jivika Didis were “dreams of Mungeri Lal”—basically, wishful thinking.
Speaking to reporters, Paswan complained that the Grand Alliance—Bihar’s big political bloc—has been torn apart. “First they’d have to form the government and then think about regularising workers,” Paswan said. “The alliance leaders are fighting inside themselves, so the Mahagathbandhan is already dead.” He added that if Yadav thinks he can win, he’s just day‑dreaming.
Paswan didn’t hold back on the Congress either. He noted that the party’s election chief Ashok Gehlot only came to Patna after the Grand Alliance broke apart. “Where is Rahul Gandhi? He was roaming around the state earlier and confusing people with the Special Intensive Revision (SIR). If Rahul and Tejashwi sit together, they could solve the seat‑sharing problem maturely,” Paswan said.
The LJP chief said the alliance is “completely finished” because parties are contesting the same seats. “They fielded candidates against each other in 10 to 12 seats. If one district has six constituencies and they fight in one, how can voters in the other five trust that the alliance is unified?” he questioned. “People in Bihar have realised that the Grand Alliance can’t be trusted to govern.”
Paswan cited a recent win in Haryana as an example, saying a similar result is likely in Bihar where the Congress lost and the Grand Alliance faces defeat. He pointed out the opposition leadership tussle between Rahul Gandhi and Tejashwi Yadav, while the NDA (National Democratic Alliance) chose Nitish Kumar as its leader. “All our partners are ready for the campaign under Nitish Kumar. We’ve fixed seat sharing, announced candidates, filed nominations, and now we’re hitting the ground,” Paswan said.
He also criticised those who question Nitish Kumar’s health, noting that he is actively campaigning, unlike the Grand Alliance leaders. “They’re not out in the field,” Paswan added.
Earlier that day, Ashok Gehlot met with RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav in Patna. They said the Grand Alliance was fine and announced a joint press conference for Thursday.
