CISF Conducts Major Counter-Terrorism Mock Drill at Delhi Airport

New Delhi: Security forces in India stepped up their game with a big joint counter-terrorism mock exercise at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport on Sunday. The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) led the drill to sharpen everyone’s response to threats and make sure all teams work like a well-oiled machine.

CISF shared details on X (formerly Twitter), saying the exercise focused on boosting threat response mechanisms, improving tactical readiness, and ensuring smooth coordination between security and emergency agencies. "This large-scale mock exercise included the full cycle of crisis management—from spotting the alert and neutralizing the threat to a detailed post-operation review," they added.

The drill brought together a powerhouse team of responders. Key participants included the CISF Quick Reaction Team (QRT), Delhi Police, National Security Guard (NSG), Delhi Traffic Police, Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS), fire services, medical teams, and the Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA). Everyone played their part to simulate a real terror scenario at the busy airport, testing how quickly they could react and coordinate.

CISF emphasized that such exercises are crucial for aviation security in India, helping to keep airports safe from potential threats. This comes amid growing focus on counter-terrorism drills at major hubs like Delhi Airport.

Just days earlier, on Friday, CISF held a zonal-level conference on aviation security at Cochin International Airport in Kerala. Top officials, including SDG/APS Praveer Ranjan and IG/APS-II, discussed cutting-edge tools like AI surveillance, full-body scanners, and cybersecurity measures. They reviewed strategies with senior officers from Cochin Airport and other key locations to stay ahead of evolving risks.

These efforts show CISF’s commitment to strong airport security across India, making travel safer for millions. Stay tuned for more updates on national security initiatives.
