India’s Civil Aviation Minister Rammohan Naidu Kinjarapu kicked off the Udan Yatri Cafe at Vijayawada International Airport on Monday, boosting affordable options for travelers. This new spot promises budget-friendly eats to make air travel more comfortable for everyone.
The event drew Vijayawada MP Kesineni Sivanath, along with Airports Authority of India (AAI) officials like Sharad Kumar from operations and H Srinivas from HR, plus other senior leaders. Now, passengers can grab a quick tea for just 10 rupees or coffee, snacks, and sweets for 20 rupees—perfect for keeping hunger at bay without breaking the bank.
Vijayawada joins a growing list as the seventh airport to feature the Udan Yatri Cafe, and the sixth under AAI management. Others include Kolkata, Pune, Chennai, Bhubaneswar, Ahmedabad, and Hollongi. In his speech, the minister stressed that these cafes ensure no flyer leaves on an empty stomach. He also shared exciting plans: more Udan Yatri Cafes will roll out at airports across India in stages.
Kinjarapu gave a big update on Vijayawada International Airport’s upgrades. Workers are building a new integrated terminal that’s set to finish in the coming months. Once open, it will handle way more passengers and improve the whole experience.
Travelers will soon have more flight choices too. A direct international route to Singapore launches shortly, and new domestic connections to Ahmedabad, Varanasi, and Pune are on the way. To top it off, the minister planted a sapling at the airport’s cityside as part of the Ek Ped Maa ke Naam tree-planting drive, adding a green touch to the day’s events.
