Assam is buzzing with excitement as Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit the state next week, in what locals are calling a “landmark moment” for Assam’s development. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma shared his enthusiasm, saying the people are eagerly waiting for Modi’s arrival on September 13-14. He described the visit as a huge step forward for Assam’s progress.
The two-day trip was originally scheduled for early September but was rescheduled to September 13-14 because of the Vice-Presidential election. During his visit, PM Modi will participate in various events that highlight Assam’s culture and development projects.
On September 13, PM Modi will launch the year-long celebrations of legendary singer and cultural icon Bhupen Hazarika’s birth centenary in Guwahati. This event is expected to see many artists, scholars, and citizens come together to honor Assam’s rich cultural heritage.
The next day, September 14, the Prime Minister will visit Mangaldoi in Darrang district. Here, he will inaugurate important infrastructure projects, including the long-awaited Guwahati Ring Road, a new Brahmaputra bridge connecting Kuruwa and Narengi, and the foundation stone for Mangaldoi Medical College and Hospital.
PM Modi will also travel to Golaghat district to dedicate to the nation India’s first bamboo-based bio-ethanol refinery, the Numaligarh Refinery Limited’s (NRL) bio-ethanol plant. Built at a cost of around Rs 4,200 crore, this eco-friendly project aims to benefit over 30,000 rural households by promoting bamboo farming and creating new income sources. It also marks a significant step toward India’s clean-energy goals.
Local leaders and party workers are busy organizing logistics to ensure smooth rallies and events during the Prime Minister’s visit. BJP leaders say this trip will showcase the Centre’s strong commitment to Assam’s cultural pride, infrastructure growth, and green energy development.
