Tamil Nadu’s New Welfare Boost: CM Stalin Launches ‘Anbukkarangal’ for Orphaned Kids
In a heartfelt tribute to the legacy of former Chief Minister and DMK founder C.N. Annadurai, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin is set to roll out a game-changing welfare scheme called ‘Anbukkarangal’ in Chennai on Monday, September 15. This initiative targets children who have lost one or both parents, offering them steady financial help to keep their education dreams alive without any hurdles.
Picture this: kids facing tough times after losing their family breadwinners now get a safety net. Under ‘Anbukkarangal’, eligible children will receive Rs 2,000 every month until they turn 18. The goal? To stop school dropouts due to money woes and ensure they finish their studies strong. It covers orphans as well as those with a single parent struggling to make ends meet.
This new scheme fits right into the Tamil Nadu government’s bigger ‘Thayumanavar’ program, which focuses on lifting families out of poverty through livelihood and welfare support. By zeroing in on education for these vulnerable kids, the state aims to open doors to college, skill training, and brighter futures.
The launch event kicks off at Kalaivanar Arangam in Chennai, where CM Stalin will officially kick things off. Adding to the excitement, he’ll also hand out laptops to students, helping bridge the digital gap and gear up the youth for today’s tech-savvy world.
Before the big reveal, Stalin will lead a tribute at 10 a.m., paying floral respects at Anna’s statue on Anna Salai. Expect ministers, MLAs, and DMK leaders to join in honoring the iconic leader, whose vision of social justice and support for the needy still guides Tamil Nadu’s policies today.
Officials highlight how ‘Anbukkarangal’ echoes Anna’s ideals, blending monthly aid with education perks and long-term skill-building. It’s more than just money—it’s a lifeline that promises stability and hope for countless children in Tamil Nadu, ensuring they thrive despite life’s curveballs.
