Chennai, September 17: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin is all set to join the DMK’s grand Mupperum Vizha in Karur today. This big Triple Festival celebrates three key milestones: the birth anniversary of DMK founder C.N. Annadurai, social reformer Periyar E.V. Ramasamy’s 147th birth anniversary, and the party’s founding day. It’s a huge event for DMK supporters, highlighting the party’s roots and achievements.
The celebrations kick off at Kodangipatti in Karur, where Stalin will give a special address to the crowd. He arrived in nearby Tiruchirappalli earlier and stopped at the Tiruchi Central Bus Stand to pay floral tributes at Periyar’s statue. From there, he’ll travel by road to Karur for the main festivities.
DMK general secretary Durai Murugan will lead the event, which includes handing out several top awards to honor party leaders and contributors. Kanimozhi Karunanidhi, the MP and DMK leader, will receive the prestigious Periyar Award. Former Palayamkottai municipal chairperson Seetharaman gets the Anna Award, while ex-MLA Ramachandran will be awarded the Kalaignar Award.
The late Kulithalai Sivaramanu earns the Bharathidasan Award, and former MLA Maruthur Ramalingam will take home the Perasiyar Award. Ex-minister Pongalur Palanisamy is set for the M.K. Stalin Award, and senior journalist Panneer Selvan will get the Murasoli Selvam Award. These honors spotlight the DMK’s commitment to social justice and leadership, much like Periyar’s ideals.
The venue looks impressive, decked out like a fortress with space for a whopping one lakh people. You’ll spot huge portraits of CM Stalin and his son, Deputy CM Udhayanidhi Stalin, right on the stage. Banners highlighting Tamil Nadu government’s key successes line the area, adding to the excitement.
Karur is buzzing with energy—welcome arches, DMK flags, and colorful banners everywhere turn the city into a festival zone. Ministers, MLAs, party leaders, and thousands of cadres are expected to show up, making this Mupperum Vizha a massive display of DMK’s strength and unity.
Earlier today, CM Stalin also sent birthday wishes to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his 75th birthday, keeping the spirit of goodwill alive.
