CM Yogi launches seven-day GST reform awareness campaign across UP

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath launched the first phase of a major GST Reform Awareness Campaign today, running from September 22 to 29. The drive focuses on highlighting the perks of recent GST reforms and pushing for more use of indigenous products to boost the local economy.

In a video conference on Saturday with NDA MLAs and state ministers, Yogi urged public representatives to connect directly with traders, shopkeepers, and shoppers. He wants everyone to reap the benefits of these changes, especially during the upcoming festive season.

Yogi made it clear: All public reps will spearhead the campaign each day in their local areas. He’ll join in personally, along with both deputy chief ministers for a full seven days. MPs, ministers, MLAs, MLCs, and councillors plan to spend one to two hours daily chatting with shopkeepers and locals in markets. In each district, assigned ministers will team up with local leaders to make sure the message hits home at the grassroots level.

Campaign volunteers will hit the markets every day, handing out roses to shopkeepers as a thank-you gesture. They’ll explain how Prime Minister Narendra Modi rolled out these GST reforms to meet long-time demands from the business community. Shopkeepers get a nudge to put up posters saying “Garv Se Kaho Swadeshi Hai” and stock up on indigenous products to support India’s economy.

Yogi stressed that Swadeshi isn’t just a catchphrase—it’s a salute to Indian workers’ labor, skills, and grit. “Choosing local products is the path to a self-reliant and developed India,” he said, calling on everyone to take pride in them and drive economic growth.

As festive shopping ramps up, the team will tell customers how GST reforms have slashed prices on goods, making them more affordable. They’ll also encourage picking Indian-made items over imports.

In straightforward talks, public reps will break it down: These GST changes simplify business for traders, cut costs for buyers, and pave the way for a stronger, self-reliant nation. The goal is to spread this awareness everywhere so both shopkeepers and consumers win big.

Yogi directed ministers to head to their districts and link up with local groups, business associations, farmers, and everyday folks to share the reform’s upsides. He pushed for a statewide rollout with full involvement from local leaders. On the bigger picture, he noted that lower GST rates mean cheaper products, higher buying power, fresh investments, and new jobs—perfect talking points for the holiday rush.

Wrapping up, Yogi called for everyone’s full support. “This campaign will fuel economic growth and edge India toward true self-reliance by championing Swadeshi,” he said. He added that success hinges on public buy-in and told all reps to send him their seven-day plans right away for quick action.
