Andhra Pradesh Governor S. Abdul Nazeer brought a special message to students at the first Graduation Day event of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham in Amaravati. The ceremony took place on Thursday at the university’s campus in Kuragallu village, Mangalagiri mandal, Guntur district.
In his speech, Governor Nazeer highlighted exciting opportunities for Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, located right in Amaravati. He pointed out that the university can team up with the upcoming Amaravati Quantum Computing Centre. This is a big government project to turn Andhra Pradesh into a global hub for quantum technology, working hand-in-hand with academics and industry leaders.
The Governor explained that the Quantum Computing Centre will partner with universities, startups, and research institutions to spark innovation in key areas like pharmaceuticals, materials science, agriculture, logistics, and cybersecurity. He added that this initiative could create thousands of jobs, offer skill-building programs for students and researchers, and boost homegrown tech development in India.
Governor Nazeer also congratulated the graduating students, along with those who received gold medals and merit certificates during the convocation. He praised Her Holiness Satguru Sri Mata Amritanandamayi Devi, the university’s Chancellor, as one of the world’s top humanitarian leaders.
Looking back, the Governor recalled how the 150-acre campus foundation stone was laid on February 7, 2018, by then-Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu. He shared some proud moments for the university: In 2024, 27 faculty members made it to Stanford University’s Top 2% Scientists list for their outstanding research work, while 10 others earned lifetime achievement honors.
