Concerted drive to encourage women’s attendance at hospitals: Delhi AIIMS Medical Superintendent on ‘Swasth Nari, Sashakt Parivar Abhiyaan’

PM Launches Swasth Nari, Sashakt Parivar Abhiyaan to Boost Women’s Health Across India

In a big push for women’s healthcare, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to launch the Swasth Nari, Sashakt Parivar Abhiyaan on September 17. This exciting 16-day campaign, run by the Prime Minister’s Office, aims to get more women visiting hospitals for check-ups and care. It kicks off alongside the 8th Poshan Maah, focusing on better nutrition and health services for women, teenage girls, and kids nationwide.

Dr. Nirupam Madan, Medical Superintendent at AIIMS Delhi, shared her thoughts with . "In our general OPD, we see way more men than women. This drive from the PMO is spot-on to encourage women to step up and seek hospital care," she said. It’s all about making healthcare accessible and timely for everyone.

At AIIMS Delhi, they’re rolling out special health camps for women and children. These camps will happen at the main AIIMS, plus outreach spots like Trilokpuri Centre, Ballabhgarh Community Health Centre, and Jhajjar. Open to all women, the camps run from 9 am to 2 pm as walk-ins—no appointments needed.

What can you expect? General health check-ups, gynaecological exams, and screenings for cervical cancer and breast cancer. They’ll also offer eye check-ups and a blood donation drive on September 17. These activities will continue through the fortnight, helping women stay on top of their health.

The Ministry of Ayush is jumping in too, bringing traditional wellness into the mix. The campaign covers health check-ups and screenings for non-communicable diseases (NCDs), cancers, anaemia, tuberculosis, and sickle cell disease. You’ll find maternal and child healthcare services, plus awareness drives on nutrition and hygiene.

Ayush treatments target issues like anaemia, NCDs, and Poly Cystic Ovarian Disease (PCOD) in women and kids. Special kiosks will offer lifestyle counselling, yoga sessions, and Prakriti Pareekshan to empower women. To fight corporate burnout, expect Ayurveda-inspired wellness programs and yoga for mindfulness.

States and Union Territories are getting involved with school camps, radio and TV shows, and social media pushes to spread the word. They’ll hand out home remedies, nutrition kits, and tips on medicinal plants and herbal teas for women’s well-being.

Self-Help Groups at the panchayat level will lead awareness rallies and pledge events to rally communities. The focus stays on full women’s healthcare—from pregnancy support to palliative care. Daily Ayush health tips on social media will cover topics like Anaemia-Free Women, Fit Mother, Stress-Free Women, Herbal Nutrition, and Bone Health. It’s a practical way for women to tackle their health worries head-on.

This national health campaign is all about women empowerment and stronger families. If you’re a woman looking to prioritize your health, these camps and programs are a great start—check them out in your area!
