In the wake of a sweeping win for the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in Bihar’s state assembly elections, Union Minister for Food and Consumer Affairs Pralhad Joshi called the result a “break‑through” for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s coalition. Speaking in Hubballi, the minister slammed the Indian National Congress and its leader Rahul Gandhi for the party’s poor showing, saying the Congress “is a sinking boat” that is dragging its allies down.
Joshi said that Rahul Gandhi’s strategy of accusing opponents of “vote theft” and claiming electronic voting machines (EVMs) were tampered with did not sit well with voters. “In Bihar the Congress is struggling to even reach single‑digit results,” he told the media, adding that the party’s claims have only eroded its own coalition, the INDIA bloc.
The former Congress leader accused Gandhi of “misleading voters” and undermining the democratic process. Joshi urged Gandhi to respect the Constitution, voters, and the country’s institutions, and voiced disappointment that the allegations had no traction in the state.
At the same time, NDA officials celebrated the historic victory. Union Minister of State for Water Resources and Railways V. Somanna posted on X that “Bihar chooses progress. Bihar chooses NDA.” He praised the people of Bihar for affirming Modi’s leadership, highlighting promises turned into “development” and “stability.”
In Mangaluru, Karnataka, Union Minister of State for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Shobha Karandlaje marked the success at a celebratory event. She described the win as “historic and unprecedented,” distributing sweets to BJP workers and thanking voters for granting the NDA a powerful mandate.
The Karnataka‑based leaders’ comments underline the NDA’s growing support across the country and the Congress’s declining influence. As the party grapples with the fallout from yesterday’s elections, it remains unclear how Rahul Gandhi will respond to the decisive verdict of Bihar’s voters.
