New Delhi, Oct 23 – Ahead of big state elections, the Indian National Congress is tightening its grip on the grassroots, holding a high‑level meeting in Delhi as part of its “Sangathan Srijan Abhiyan” in Chhattisgarh.
The session, organized at the party’s headquarters in Indira Bhawan, was chaired by All India Congress Committee (AICC) General Secretary Sachin Pilot, who oversees the Chhattisgarh unit. Pilot sat down with senior Congress leaders and AICC observers to decide who will become the new District Congress Committee (DCC) presidents.
K.C. Venugopal, the AICC General Secretary for organisation, posted on X: “We are running one‑on‑one meetings with the state in‑charge, Sachin Pilot, and our observers to pick fresh DCC presidents in Chhattisgarh.” His tweet highlighted the campaign’s focus on transparent, merit‑based selections.
Observers, including opposition leader Umang Singhar and former MLA Hina Kawre, travel across the state to meet local workers, assess leadership quality, and recommend the best candidates. Their goal is simple: find leaders who can connect with voters, deliver results, and energise the party at the district level.
Sachin Pilot, who recently ran the “Vote Chor, Gaddi Chhor” drive in Chhattisgarh, has been actively engaging with party workers across the state, stressing the importance of internal unity and strong leadership. His presence in Delhi signals how seriously the Congress is taking this structural overhaul.
The Sangathan Srijan Abhiyan is part of a broader push in key states like Rajasthan and Telangana. By installing fresh, dynamic leaders at district level, the Congress aims to rebuild its machinery, improve electoral readiness, and regain influence in states where it has recently struggled.
Party insiders say the next DCC presidents will hail from local communities, have proven performance records, and possess the ability to mobilise support quickly. With the next state assembly polls on the horizon, Congress hopes this renewed focus on grassroots strength will turn the tide in its favour.
