In Patna, Congress leader Manoj Kumar took to the press on Saturday and slammed the NDA ruling alliance in Bihar. “The state has been in turmoil for the last 20 years,” he said, adding that services in health and education are “catastrophically bad.”
He also exposed a scam within the Public Distribution System (PDS). According to his figures, Bihar is supposed to receive 48 lakh litres of kerosene every month, but only 4 lakh litres reach the public. Kumar said he will write a letter to the central government and bring the issue to Parliament, calling out both the Chief Minister and the Prime Minister for the shortfall.
On the election front, Manoj Kumar highlighted that the Mahagathbandhan seats are being finalized. “We have chosen candidates for some seats and will stand united in the forthcoming Bihar Assembly election,” he said.
Meanwhile, Tej Pratap Yadav, head of the Janshakti Janata Dal (JJD), announced that the party will release its candidate list on October 13. He will contest from the Mahua constituency, mirroring his 2015 win when he was with the RJD. Yadav, the son of former chief minister Lalu Prasad Yadav, said he received many invitations to meet from other parties as he prepares the announcements.
The JJD founder has faced a family‑backed ex‑party expulsion amid controversy over a Facebook post that sparked rumours of a long‑term relationship. He denied the claim, saying his account was hacked.
These developments set the stage for the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections, as political parties sharpen their campaigns and confront allegations of mismanagement and corruption.
