Mantralayam, Oct 22 – Karnataka’s Deputy Chief Minister and state Congress chief, D.K. Shivakumar, said Wednesday that the party will follow the high‑command’s directions. He echoed Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s message and pledged to keep in line with the chief minister’s guidance.
Shivakumar added he does not know what Yathindra Siddaramaiah – the CM’s son and a Congress MLC – has said about the leadership comments. “The party has given me everything,” he said. “Since I’m party president and Deputy Chief Minister, I’ve handled major responsibilities with the party’s support.”
Earlier this week, Yathindra said his father was moving toward the end of his political career and that PWD Minister Satish Jarkiholi would steer the party’s progressive wing. He later clarified that there will be no leadership change in Karnataka, insisting the high‑command has repeatedly ruled out a shift, even as the BJP hints otherwise.
Shivakumar warned that no one is larger than the party and urged all party workers to stay loyal to Congress. He stressed that he would not tolerate any group politics.
