Counter Intelligence Kashmir carries out searches at eight locations in Valley

Police in Jammu and Kashmir stepped up their fight against militants with a series of coordinated raids across the Kashmir Valley. On Saturday, the Counter-Intelligence Kashmir (CIK) wing of the Jammu and Kashmir Crime Investigation Department (CID) searched eight locations in seven districts: Srinagar, Baramulla, Anantnag, Kupwara, Handwara, Pulwama, and Shopian.

These operations targeted a suspected network linking local individuals to militant groups in the region. Officials explained that CIK got court-approved search warrants to push forward an active militancy investigation in the area.

The goal? To collect key digital and physical evidence that could crack the case wide open. During the raids, teams grabbed documents and electronic devices, which they’ll now send for forensic checks. So far, no arrests have happened, but the probe continues.

Local police and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) backed up the CIK teams to make sure everything went smoothly.

This isn’t a one-off—joint forces in Jammu and Kashmir are ramping up efforts against terrorists, their overground workers (OGWs), and anyone showing sympathy for them. They’re also zeroing in on drug smugglers and dealers, since intelligence points to these rackets funding terror through hawala money transfers.

Experts believe much of the drug smuggling and hawala operations trace back across the Line of Control (LoC) and the international border (IB). Cracking down on terrorists, their supporters, and these funding networks is all part of a bigger plan to break the entire terror ecosystem in the Union Territory.

The Jammu and Kashmir CID plays a big role here beyond everyday crimes. It handles passport checks, gathers on-the-ground intel, and runs specialized units like the CIK wings—one for Kashmir and one for Jammu. There’s also the State Investigation Agency (SIA) for high-profile cases, keeping the pressure on threats in the region.
