Tejashwi Yadav, the leader of the opposition and a key figure in Bihar’s RJD party, told reporters on Sunday that voters in Dalit and tribal areas plan to end the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government in the upcoming Assembly elections.
He said, “Power is about to change. Bihar will change. The Dalit and tribal communities have decided to remove the current government from power.”
Yadav’s comments come as lines with the ruling party grow tense. Earlier the same day, he posted a video on X (formerly Twitter) of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar at a skill‑development ceremony. The clip showed the CM “doing bizarre antics,” and Yadav questioned whether the CM’s mental fitness is fit to lead. He asked, “How does it feel to see the Chief Minister of a state in such a pathetic condition?” and added, “Does the honorable Chief Minister appear mentally healthy when he behaves like that?”
The video was taken from a virtual convocation where Prime Minister Narendra Modi presented certificates to students in Kaushal Deekshant Samaroh 2025. Some opponents suspect that the CM’s erratic behaviour may be linked to political pressure.
With the Bihar Assembly election slated for later this year, opposition leaders are urging voters to consider the health and fitness of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar before they head to the polls. The debate over his ability to lead is becoming a focal point in the run‑up to the elections.
