New Delhi, India – In a ceremony that drew Delhi’s chief minister and other top officials, Union Home Minister Amit Shah laid a foundation stone and unveiled a group of development projects worth about Rs 1816 crore. The launch was part of the “Seva Pakhwada,” a program that started on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday and has seen 17 major projects introduced across the capital.

Shah spoke to the crowd about the long‑term plans for Delhi, emphasizing a pledge to clean the Yamuna River. He explained that the Congress‑led government before Modi had promised a clean waterway but failed to follow through. Under the new administration, officials say a full plan to clean the Yamuna to Prayagraj will be finished in the next seven months, and the big goal is to reach a clean river by 2029. The Home Minister highlighted that about 80 per cent of the new projects focus on this environmental mission.

The day also marked a quick roll‑out of the Ayushman Bharat health scheme, which offers free treatment up to Rs 5 lakh. Shah said the scheme was implemented within the first week of his government taking office. He criticized the former government’s Mohalla Clinics, saying that many of the 57 clinics set up under them lacked basic equipment such as glucometers, X‑ray machines, pulse‑checkers, and thermometers, making it hard to provide proper care.

Shah reminded the audience that the previous Delhi government had been involved in several scandals – from cases involving toilets and CNG stations to liquor and advertising – and that its waste piles had reached heights of 65 metres. He said the new government plans to replace those towers of garbage with gardens by January 1, 2028.

“Our teams have worked hard to make Delhi cleaner, healthier, and safer for its residents,” the Home Minister said, underscoring that no corruption allegations have been tied to Prime Minister Modi’s 11‑year national tenure. He called the new projects a beacon of good governance and a step toward a cleaner, greener Delhi by the country’s 2047 centenary.

The foundation stones were laid in front of the Diwali‑lit streets of Delhi, and amid fanfare, Amit Shah concluded with warm wishes for the Diwali and Chhath Puja festivals. The ceremony capped a day of promises and plans aimed at improving infrastructure, protecting the environment, and enhancing public services in the capital.
