Delhi BJP and AAP leaders traded sharp words on Saturday over the shortage of special educators in civic schools for students with special needs. The BJP accused the Arvind Kejriwal-led AAP of ignoring the problem for the past 10 years, while the AAP highlighted the issue first.
BJP spokesperson Praveen Shankar Kapoor fired back at AAP’s MCD Leader of Opposition, Ankush Narang, calling him a “statement warrior” who avoids real action. Kapoor pointed out that before blaming the BJP, Narang needs to explain why the Kejriwal government crippled the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) over the last decade.
He criticized the AAP for weakening the finances of the three BJP-led municipal corporations from 2015 to 2024 due to political motives. Even worse, Kapoor said, the AAP stalled the unified MCD’s operations for nearly two and a half years after taking power, which wrecked the entire civic system. “Now these same folks are grilling the BJP on city services,” he added.
The BJP stands firm on fixing the special educators shortage. Kapoor noted that every school should have them, and MCD Mayor Sardar Raja Iqbal Singh and Standing Committee Chairperson Satya Sharma plan to make it happen soon.
But the BJP wants answers from Narang too. Why didn’t AAP Mayor Shelly Oberoi—known for her education reforms—hire these specialists during her time leading the MCD from December 2022 to April 2025?
In other Delhi news, BJP President Virendra Sachdeva praised the Rekha Gupta government’s new rebate on pending Delhi Jal Board bills. He said the old Kejriwal administration talked big about water issues but never delivered a real fix for disputed bills.
Under the BJP’s determined push, this move helps millions of Delhi residents sort out their water bill problems and get some relief.
