Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva fired back at former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday, accusing him of sharing a manipulated video clip from Chief Minister Rekha Gupta’s TV interview to spark a fresh political controversy in Delhi.
Sachdeva called out the post as a “doctored” version, claiming it twists Gupta’s words to make it sound like she said the BJP is just repeating what Congress did for 60 or 70 years. But when you watch the full interview, the real story comes out: Gupta was actually pointing out how surprising it is that Congress and others won elections for decades without anyone crying rigging, yet now that the BJP is winning, the opposition jumps to those accusations.
“It’s shameful,” Sachdeva said, blasting Kejriwal—a former chief minister and AAP’s national convenor—for pushing this edited footage to tarnish Gupta’s image and score cheap political points. He added that Kejriwal’s real issue seems to be how Gupta’s seven-month BJP government in Delhi is already outperforming his own 10 years in charge.
Earlier, Delhi BJP spokesperson Praveen Shankar Kapoor took aim at another AAP leader, Durgesh Pathak, who claimed drugs are flowing freely in the city and blamed the current administration. Kapoor dismissed it as laughable political mudslinging, noting that drug addiction doesn’t happen overnight.
He stressed that fighting drugs isn’t just on the Delhi Police—it’s the Delhi government’s Excise Department that handles those campaigns, and AAP ran that department during their 11 years in power. “If drugs are being sold in Delhi today, they were likely happening under the AAP government too,” Kapoor said.
Kapoor challenged Pathak directly: Why pin the blame on the BJP, which has only been in power for six or seven months? And what anti-drug efforts did AAP’s Excise Department actually launch back in their long rule?
