In Delhi, the chief minister reminded people to celebrate Diwali and Chhath in a safe, eco‑friendly way. On Sunday, Rekha Gupta sent Diwali greetings from New Delhi and urged citizens to use green crackers, light diyas, create rangoli designs and share sweets, saying the whole city must stick to a pledge of love and brotherhood.
Gupta also toured the banks of the Yamuna. She visited Vasudev Ghat near Kashmiri Gate to check on the Chhath preparations and told officials to upgrade facilities for the millions of devotees who will come. The chief minister reviewed ongoing cleaning, levelling, lighting, security and amenities work. She said the work is running “on a war footing” from Palla to Kalindi Kunj, with JCB machines scouring the ghats.
“Delhi’s water is cleaner than before, no foam or pollution,” she noted. She added that all ministers, MLAs and officials are on the ground, personally overseeing the jobs.
The Delhi government is determined to make this year’s Chhath festival larger, safer and more organized than ever. “Just as we celebrated Diwali in an unprecedented way, Chhath will set a new benchmark for grandeur and orderliness,” Gupta said. She emphasized that the city’s recent successes in the Kanwar Yatra, Ramlila, Durga Puja and Diwali show Delhi can deliver a transformed, clean, and culturally rich experience for its residents.
