Delhi Police have busted a big counterfeit operation targeting automobile spare parts, arresting two men and seizing fake goods worth 90 lakh rupees. The crackdown highlights the dangers of bogus auto parts that mimic top brands and put drivers at risk.
On August 29, officers from the Delhi Police Crime Branch raided two shops in the bustling Karol Bagh area of New Delhi, acting on tips about fake automobile spare parts from well-known international companies. They caught Suresh Kumar at one shop and Pola Ram at the other.
The seized items included a huge stash of duplicate auto parts, from critical brake shoes and pads to other components. These knockoffs lacked proper safety standards, posing serious threats to consumer safety on the roads. Police also grabbed printing machines, branding stamps, and packing materials used to make the fakes look real with forged labels and holograms.
Investigators say the duo bought cheap counterfeit auto parts from local makers, then repackaged them to pass as genuine products. They sold these to dealers, wholesalers, and repair shops around Delhi, often calling them OEM surplus or export rejects. Most deals happened in cash with phony invoices, and some went online as “original” parts.
The racket not only hurt the wallets of big automobile companies but also endangered public safety for quick profits. Police have filed a case under Section 63 of the Copyright Act at the Crime Branch station, with FIR number 230/2025.
The probe continues as authorities dig deeper into this counterfeit automobile spare parts network.
