New Delhi, Nov 4 – Delhi Police have arrested two key suspects in a violent attack that shook North Delhi earlier this year. The arrests followed a thorough operation led by Inspector Satender Poonia and his team from the Intelligence and Surveillance Cell (ISC).
The brutal episode occurred on the night of July 18, 2025, in the Bhalswa Dairy area. Four men, along with several unidentified accomplices, allegedly used knives and sticks to assault members of a nearby family with the intent to kill. Five people were injured, and the attackers fled the scene soon after.
Police opened FIR 486/25 under several sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at the Bhalswa Dairy police station. During the investigation, investigators identified Md. Mumtaz Ansari as the main conspirator behind the crime.
More than a dozen adults and three juveniles were already in custody from earlier arrests. The Crime Branch, however, kept searching for the remaining suspects. Using advanced technical surveillance and human intelligence, the police team tracked and captured Ansari, 29, and his associate Shamim, 50, in the Inderlok area.
Ansari is a known habitual offender and a “bad character” listed at Bhalswa Dairy. He was released on bail in June 2025 and has faced multiple charges in North Delhi, including attempted murder, murder conspiracy, illicit arms possession, rioting, and theft. He also had non‑bailable warrants for cases at Mahendra Park and Model Town police stations.
During questioning, Ansari admitted that he had planned and incited the assault. Police say further investigations and legal action are underway.
Delhi Police’s swift operation highlights the authorities’ focus on curbing violent crime and protecting residents in North Delhi.
