In a heartwarming gesture ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 75th birthday, Delhi Hajj Committee Chairperson Kausar Jahan visited the Bhagwat Dham Vriddh Ashram in Mayur Vihar Phase 1 on Tuesday. She served meals to the elderly residents, sought their blessings, and handed out saris to the women and dhotis to the men, making the day special for everyone there.
Talking to , Kausar Jahan shared her thoughts on the visit. “We’re observing a Sewa Pakhwada, or Service Fortnight, across India for PM Modi’s 75th birthday. I came here to meet these wonderful seniors, serve them food, and get their blessings. We wanted to celebrate in a way that’s truly meaningful and from the heart.”
She also extended her wishes to the Prime Minister. “I pray for PM Modi’s good health and long life. This small act honors his amazing work for public service.”
The elderly folks at the ashram were thrilled and full of praise. A 104-year-old man said, “I congratulate PM Modi on his birthday. It’s the first time I’ve seen a Sewa Pakhwada done so thoughtfully.” Another senior woman added, “Happy birthday to PM Modi, and may he stay healthy. It’s not right for the opposition to attack him personally or speak badly about his late mother. We must respect the dignity of the Prime Minister’s office.”
This visit is part of a bigger nationwide push by the BJP. The party kicks off the Sewa Pakhwada from September 17 to October 2 to mark PM Modi’s birthday celebrations. It wraps up on the birth anniversaries of Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri.
Union Minister Bhupender Yadav announced during a press briefing at BJP headquarters that the fortnight will include fun and helpful activities for people from all backgrounds. Expect blood donation camps, health check-ups, cleanliness drives, exhibitions, discussion sessions, and the popular ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ tree-planting initiative.
On top of that, the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) plans to host the ‘Modi Vikas Marathon’ in over 75 major cities on September 21. It’s a great way to blend fitness with the spirit of development and service inspired by PM Modi.
