New Delhi buzzed with excitement on World Tourism Day as the 16th Champion’s Run kicked off at the Gandhi Darshan site, drawing crowds to spotlight India’s thriving tourism scene and get people excited about exploring more.
Senior leaders like Delhi Cabinet Minister Kapil Mishra and BJP leader Vijay Goel joined the fun, giving a big shoutout to the Central government’s push to turn Delhi and India into top global tourist hotspots.
Mishra fired up the crowd by talking about how Delhi now sees tourism as a powerhouse for its culture and economy. “We’re hosting cultural programs all over Delhi today,” he said. “Prime Minister Narendra Modi keeps stressing the need to boost tourism, so we’re developing new spots across India and right here in the capital—like the stunning Kartavya Path.”
He shared an inspiring vision for Delhi’s future: “Under Prime Minister Modi and Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, we’re aiming to shift Delhi from just a stopover city to a real tourism hub, where visitors stick around to soak in all the experiences.”
Goel echoed the enthusiasm, praising the event as a yearly tradition that ramps up tourism awareness. “Prime Minister Narendra Modi believes in promoting tourism big time, and that’s why the government is on it,” he noted. “We’re building fresh attractions in Delhi to lure folks from everywhere, letting them discover what makes India special.”
He added with pride: “As our Prime Minister often points out, no other country can rival India’s tourism gems—from seas and deserts to mountains, plus every kind of weather, summer to winter. We’ve got it all.”
The Champion’s Run didn’t just celebrate running and fun; it highlighted India’s huge untapped treasures in culture and history. With revamped heritage sites and exciting new draws, Delhi is fast becoming a go-to spot for travelers from home and abroad.
Runners, locals, and athletes wrapped up the day with high energy, tying right into the government’s ‘Dekho Apna Desh’ campaign that urges everyone to explore India’s diverse wonders.
