Delhi police have filed charges against the director of a prominent institution in Vasant Kunj for allegedly molesting more than 15 girl students, officials said. The complaints from the students led to a quick investigation at Vasant Kunj North police station.
The accused, who managed the branch, faces serious allegations after the girls shared their experiences. Police recorded statements from about 15 students under Section 183 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita before a magistrate. They also seized his luxury red Volvo car, which sported a fake United Nations number plate—39 UN 1. Investigators confirmed the UN never issued that plate; the director made it up himself.
Right now, Delhi police are closing in on the suspect. “We’ve tracked him near Agra, and he’ll be arrested soon,” said DCP (South West) Amit Goel. The director had sought anticipatory bail but pulled back the application. The institution has fired him and is fully cooperating with the probe.
In other Delhi police news, officers cracked a hit-and-run case in just eight days, nabbing the driver and seizing the car in the southwest district. It all started on September 15 around 1 p.m., when a PCR call came into Vasant Vihar police station. Mayank Jain reported that another car smashed into his vehicle between 2 a.m. and 3 a.m. at the Munirka flyover. When Jain got out to check, the driver hit him on purpose and sped off. Jain ended up injured and rushed to RR Hospital in Dhaula Kuan.
Police jumped into action, scanning over 200 CCTV cameras along the Ring Road and nearby spots. They spotted a suspicious car with busted front glass. Digging deeper, they learned the registered owner died two years ago, and family members were using the vehicle. Call records and CCTV route mapping pointed to Gaurav Bhardwaj from Greater Kailash Enclave-I. He had driven the car to Dwarka that night.
The next day, Bhardwaj got the damaged glass fixed at a mechanic shop in GK-I. Police recovered the broken piece on September 20. On September 22, they arrested him, and he confessed during questioning. At his directions, they seized the car too. The case, filed as FIR No. 221/25 at Vasant Vihar station, highlights how Delhi police use tech and teamwork to solve tough crimes like this hit-and-run in the capital.
