Delhi LG Lays Foundation Stone for India’s First Ice Sports Arena in Dwarka

In a big step for Indian sports, Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena joined BJP MP Kamaljeet Sehrawat on Tuesday to kick off the construction of the country’s first international-standard Ice Sports Arena. The event happened in Dwarka Sector 23, and it’s all set to be an Olympic-level facility that could put India on the global ice sports map.

Speaking to reporters after the ceremony, LG Saxena gave a shoutout to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for boosting sports across the nation. "Tomorrow is PM Modi’s birthday, and he’s always championed sports like no one else," Saxena said. "Thanks to his push, India has made huge strides in sports. We’re laying this foundation stone in his name—it’s India’s first Ice Sports Arena, built to international standards and ready for Olympic action."

BJP MP Kamaljeet Sehrawat echoed the excitement, thanking the LG and the Central Government for making it happen. "Today, we laid the foundation for the Ice Sports Arena at the Dwarka Sector 23 Sports Complex," she told the media. "This is a game-changer—the nation’s very first one. Experts will share knowledge here too. A big thank you to the Lieutenant Governor and the Centre for this fantastic initiative."

The timing feels special, as it ties into PM Modi’s 75th birthday on September 17. To celebrate, the BJP plans to screen the inspiring film Chalo Jeete Hain in all 243 assembly constituencies of Bihar. This National Award-winning short film draws from PM Modi’s childhood and highlights Swami Vivekananda’s powerful philosophy: "Bas wahi jeete hain, jo doosro ke liye jeete hain" (Only those truly succeed who live for others).

The movie is getting a special re-release across India from September 17 to October 2, as announced by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. It was one of the most-watched short films in 2018 and will now play in lakhs of schools and around 500 cinema halls, including big chains like PVR Inox, Cinepolis, Rajhans, and Miraj.

Adding heart to the celebrations, the Chalo Jeete Hain: Seva Ka Sanman initiative honors the unsung heroes of schools and society—think watchmen, cleaners, drivers, and peons who keep things running smoothly. After students watch the film with them, these "Silent Heroes" will get special recognition. The goal? To inspire the next generation to embrace selflessness and service, just like young Naru in the story, who’s touched by Vivekananda’s teachings and starts making a real difference in his world.

This re-release and tribute aim to spread PM Modi’s life lessons on living for others, reaching millions in a fresh, engaging way. It’s a fitting birthday nod to a leader who’s all about building a stronger, more united India.
