Delhi Education Minister Ashish Sood took to the streets of West Delhi’s Janakpuri on Thursday, leading a lively march to rally traders, shoppers, and locals around Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s latest GST reforms. The event highlighted how these changes promote Swadeshi products and pave the way for a stronger, developed India.
Sood pointed out that taxes have dropped significantly, making it simpler and cheaper for people to buy everyday goods. This gives shopkeepers a real edge while putting more cash in customers’ pockets. “With GST 2.0, the Prime Minister has delivered lasting relief,” Sood said. He praised Chief Minister Rekha Gupta for pushing these benefits straight to Delhi’s residents. Sood also echoed Modi’s strong push for Swadeshi, noting it empowers local artisans, small business owners, and craftspeople—key steps toward a thriving Indian economy.
The march kicked off as part of the nationwide “Seva Pakhwada” celebrations, running from September 17 to October 2 to mark PM Modi’s birthday. In a city like Delhi, packed with middle-class families, service workers, small traders, and entrepreneurs, these GST reforms hit home hard. They promise easier daily lives, extra spending power, booming trade, and an overall economic lift.
Traders and residents from Posangipur Market joined in enthusiastically, turning the event into a community conversation. The goal? To show everyday folks how this big move helps not just local businesses and buyers, but India’s entire economy too.
Sood didn’t stop at marching—he popped into several shops, chatting with owners and breaking down the perks in plain terms. Traders and locals cheered the changes, and Sood called it a “Diwali gift from Modi ji” arriving early. He described the simplified GST structure and big rate cuts as a game-changer in India’s tax system, sparking fresh energy in Delhi’s economy, creating more jobs, and boosting transparency.
Starting September 22, these GST reforms underscore India’s drive for a straightforward, fair tax setup that eases living for citizens and doing business for companies. But Sood went further, framing it as a bold leap for Atmanirbhar Bharat and the Swadeshi movement. “We need to buy and sell Made in India goods—that’s how we build India into an economic powerhouse,” he urged.
Overall, these next-gen GST updates aim to slash rates while sparking a positive growth loop, benefiting everyone from street vendors to big enterprises.
