Delhi Minister Ashish Sood kicked off the fourth day of Shardiya Navratri with a visit to the famous Kalkaji Temple in New Delhi. On Thursday morning, he offered prayers there, asking for good health for everyone in the city. “I prayed for the well-being of Delhi’s people during this sacred Navratri occasion,” Sood told .
This fourth day of the nine-night festival honors Goddess Kushmanda, one of the powerful forms of Goddess Durga. Devotees across India flocked to temples, joining in rituals and prayers to seek her blessings for strength and prosperity.
In Delhi, crowds also gathered at Jhandewalan Temple for the morning aarti. Chants of bhajans and devotional songs filled the air as people celebrated with enthusiasm.
The day before, on Wednesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi marked the third day of Navratri by praying to Goddess Chandraghanta. She represents peace, courage, and bravery. Sharing a video on X (formerly Twitter), Modi said, “The third day is for worshiping Mother Chandraghanta. May her blessings bring positivity to all lives and happiness, prosperity, and good fortune to families across the country.”
Navratri festivities lit up other parts of India too. In Jammu and Kashmir, thousands of pilgrims headed to the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi shrine on the third day. The yatra had paused for 22 days due to heavy rains and landslides, but it resumed with special arrangements from the shrine board and local authorities to handle the rush during these nine days.
Gujarat buzzed with community events and lively cultural shows, drawing huge crowds for Garba and Dandiya Raas dances—those energetic traditional steps that get everyone moving to folk music.
In Kolkata, the Durga Puja pandals stole the show with creative themes. This year, many explore hot topics like artificial intelligence, environmental issues, and changing family life, blending fun with thoughtful messages.
Shardiya Navratri, a major Hindu festival, runs for nine nights in the lunar month of Ashwin. It celebrates Goddess Durga and her nine avatars, each bringing qualities like power, wisdom, and compassion. People fast, sing devotional songs, and dance through the nights, making it a time of joy and devotion all over India.
