Delhi Police Nab Teenage Gunman After Shootout at Checkpoint
In a tense chase in northeast Delhi, alert officers from Nand Nagri Police Station caught a 16-year-old boy who fired shots at them during a routine anti-snatching patrol. The incident happened Wednesday near TLM Hospital, where the team spotted two suspicious riders on a black motorcycle without a license plate heading toward the main road from Pili Mitti Park.
The police signaled them to stop, but the duo sped off in a sharp U-turn. As officers gave chase, the passenger on the bike shot at Head Constable Rohit. Luckily, the bullet missed, and the motorcycle skidded, sending both riders tumbling to the ground. The team quickly overpowered the shooter while the other man slipped away.
From the teen, police recovered a homemade pistol, two live rounds, and one spent cartridge. They also found out the bike was stolen from the Narela area. "We acted fast to nab him and secure the weapon," a police source said. Authorities have filed charges under sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for offenses like attempt to murder and illegal arms possession, plus the Arms Act. The investigation continues to track down the escaped suspect and uncover more details on the Delhi juvenile crime scene.
Court Pushes for Evidence in High-Profile BMW Crash Bail Case
Shifting to another major Delhi legal update, Patiala House Court on Wednesday ordered police to bring CCTV footage and key evidence from a deadly BMW accident at Dhaula Kuan. The hearing focuses on the bail application of driver Gaganpreet Kaur, who’s facing charges in the high-speed crash that killed two people last month.
Judicial Magistrate First Class Ankit Garg listened to arguments from the defense, a special public prosecutor, and the complainant’s lawyer. He directed both sides to file written submissions and scheduled the next hearing for Thursday at 2 p.m. "We need all the facts on the table to decide this," the judge noted. The case has drawn attention amid growing calls for stricter road safety laws in India’s capital, with police now rushing to compile the Delhi BMW accident evidence for court.
