Prime Minister Narendra Modi heads to Banswara in Rajasthan on Thursday to kick off a major push for development projects that will boost energy security across the state and the whole country.
Modi will launch and lay the foundation for initiatives worth more than Rs 1.22 lakh crore, covering key areas like energy, health, infrastructure, and water conservation. The event also marks the birth anniversary of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya, and it will roll out 12 big schemes touching sectors such as water, roads, agriculture, technology, and jobs. These efforts will help people in 21 districts of Rajasthan.
In a Hindi post on X before the trip, Modi shared his excitement: “Tomorrow’s development program in Rajasthan will strengthen energy security not just for the state but for the entire nation. At around 1:45 p.m. in Banswara, I’ll inaugurate and lay the foundation for projects exceeding Rs 1.22 lakh crore. This includes atomic power projects, plus schemes for health, infrastructure, and water conservation. I’ll also hand out appointment letters to over 15,000 young people and chat with beneficiaries of the PM-KUSUM scheme.”
One standout project is the Mahi Banswara Nuclear Power Plant, with an estimated cost of Rs 42,000 crore, aimed at powering up Rajasthan’s energy needs. Modi will also start work on 15 drinking water projects across 15 districts, totaling Rs 5,884 crore, to ensure clean water reaches more communities. On top of that, he’ll distribute job offer letters to 15,000 youth, giving a big lift to employment in the region.
The projects from Banswara will deliver Rs 1.22 lakh crore in total benefits, with a major chunk focused on Rajasthan and spillover advantages for neighboring states like Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Karnataka.
Modi’s day starts with a quick stop at Udaipur Airport around 12:35 p.m., then a short flight to Banswara, landing at the Mahi Helipad by 1:30 p.m. He’ll hit the main venue at 1:40 p.m. and lead the inauguration ceremonies from 1:45 p.m. to 3:35 p.m. After wrapping up, he heads back to Udaipur Airport by 4:35 p.m.
Joining him will be Union Minister Pralhad Joshi and Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, as this visit highlights Modi’s ongoing focus on growth and opportunities in rural India.
