Indians in Nepal, Don’t Worry: Piyush Goyal Assures Safety Amid Protests
Patna: With unrest shaking Nepal due to the Gen Z movement, Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal stepped in on Thursday to calm fears. He assured Indians stuck in the neighboring country that the Government of India has everything under control and they’re monitoring the situation closely.
Speaking during an official visit to Bihar’s capital Patna, Goyal shared that the Centre has already rolled out a helpline number for those in need. The Indian government stays in constant touch with the embassy in Kathmandu to ensure everyone’s safety.
"I spoke to our ambassador in Nepal just yesterday," Goyal told reporters. "Our track record speaks for itself—we’ve evacuated Indians from war zones before. If anyone faces trouble, the embassy is all set to step in and help."
Goyal hopes peace returns to Nepal soon. The country has seen violent protests, arson attacks, and even assaults on government buildings in recent days. Reports say many Indian nationals are already heading back home to avoid the chaos.
Shifting gears at the BJP state office in Patna, Goyal didn’t hold back on political rivals. He slammed RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi for staying quiet on offensive remarks against Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s mother from an opposition platform.
"These leaders haven’t even apologized," Goyal said sharply. "The truth is, they don’t respect women at all."
He also took a jab at Congress for dragging their feet on naming Tejashwi Yadav as their chief ministerial pick. "Even if they announce his name, it won’t make a difference," Goyal added. "No one can beat Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. The NDA will form the government in Bihar once again."
On a positive note, Goyal highlighted the Centre’s push for Bihar’s growth. He announced approvals for two big infrastructure projects: the Mokama-Munger four-lane road and doubling the Bhagalpur-Dumka rail line. These will cost a whopping Rs 4,447 crore in total.
"Bihar is booming under the double-engine government," Goyal said confidently. "People will vote NDA back in, and we’ll never see the return of Jungle Raj."
