Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami shared warm greetings with people across the state on Vijayadashami, also known as Dussehra. He joined lively celebrations at Hindu National School in Dehradun, where organizers from the Welfare Society burned massive Ravana effigies to mark the festival’s triumph of good over evil.
Dhami called Dussehra more than just a festival—it’s a life lesson. “It shows us that truth always wins, no matter how strong lies or misuse of power seem,” he said. He pointed to Lord Ram’s story as an inspiring example of honor, duty, and righteousness. As the perfect son, husband, and king, Ram’s life motivates people today to face challenges with integrity.
The event at Lakshman Chowk in Dehradun carries extra meaning this year. Dhami praised Rajya Sabha MP Naresh Bansal, who started the tradition, for using it to spread cultural awareness and connect with the community.
Dhami also highlighted the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) marking its 100th year. “For many like me, the RSS’s ideas give us the drive to build a stronger nation,” he noted.
Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, the new Ram Temple in Ayodhya stands as a huge symbol of India’s cultural and religious heritage. Dhami said temples, fairs, and festivals like Dussehra not only strengthen faith in Sanatan traditions but also boost tourism and create jobs. That’s why his government plans bigger events to draw more visitors and opportunities to Uttarakhand.
Drawing from Lord Ram’s ideals, Dhami’s administration targets social issues head-on. They’ve cracked down on problems like land jihad, love jihad, spitting jihad, and forced conversions. A new anti-riot law now lets them seize properties from troublemakers and make them pay for damages.
On youth employment, Uttarakhand’s tough anti-cheating law has made a real difference. It fights the cheating gangs that once ruined young people’s futures, helping over 25,000 get government jobs in the last four years. Dhami admitted some folks dislike the transparency in hiring, but he defended quick action in a recent scandal. Officials arrested suspects and launched a special investigation team. Even as opposition parties stirred protests for a CBI probe, Dhami met the affected youth personally. “We’ll hand the case to the CBI and meet every fair demand,” he promised. The goal? Protect young talents without holding back.
In another big move, the state plans to scrap the Madarsa Board with fresh legislation. Starting July 1, 2026, madrasas in Uttarakhand must teach the state board’s curriculum to ensure quality education. “We want real learning, not outdated ideas disguised as schooling,” Dhami explained.
To fight corruption—like the “Ravana” of wrongdoing—Dhami’s team follows a zero-tolerance rule for Ram Rajya ideals. In the past three years, they’ve taken action against over 200 people, including top IAS and PCS officers, for the first time in state history.
Dhami wrapped up by urging everyone to live by truth, honesty, and duty. “Together, we’ll build a strong, prosperous Uttarakhand that leads the nation,” he said, confident in the state’s bright future.
