India’s thrilling Asia Cup final victory over Pakistan on Sunday sparked waves of national pride, with BJP MP Manoj Tiwari hailing it as a display of pure patriotism on the cricket field. Tiwari even compared the win to “Operation Sindoor,” saying it lifted the spirits of every Indian.
“We have to face Pakistan in big events like the Olympics and Asia Cup,” Tiwari told . “But accepting a trophy from them? That’s not something we need. India wants no ties with Pakistan.” He praised the Indian cricket team and the BCCI for making the nation proud, adding, “Even on the pitch, it felt like Operation Sindoor in action.”
Back home, young star Tilak Varma got a hero’s welcome in Hyderabad after his match-winning knock. Fans mobbed the airport, chanting his name to the beat of dhol drums while media swarmed for interviews. The left-handed batter’s unbeaten 69 off 53 balls—complete with three fours and four sixes—turned the game around for India.
Tilak’s partnerships proved crucial. He first teamed up with Sanju Samson for 57 runs, with Samson smashing 24 off 21 balls including two fours and a six. Then, Shivam Dube joined in with 33 off 22 balls, featuring two fours and two sixes, to seal India’s chase of 147.
The match in Dubai saw India win the toss and bowl first. Pakistan started strong with an 84-run opening stand: Sahibzada Farhan smashed 57 off 38 balls with four boundaries and three sixes, while Fakhar Zaman hit 46 off 35 with two fours and two sixes. But India’s spinners took over—Kuldeep Yadav grabbed 4 for 30, Varun Chakravarthy claimed 2 for 30—and Pakistan crumbled from 113 for 1 to 146 all out in 19.1 overs. Jasprit Bumrah wrapped it up with 2 for 25.
In the chase, India stumbled early to 20 for 3 thanks to Faheem Ashraf’s burst of 3 for 29. But Tilak steadied the ship, and debutant Rinku Singh in the Asia Cup hit the winning runs on the first ball of his innings to spark wild celebrations.
