FIR Filed Against Congress Leaders Over AI Video Targeting PM Modi and His Late Mother
Police in Delhi have registered an FIR against Indian National Congress leaders for sharing an AI-generated video that allegedly insults Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his late mother, Heeraben Modi. The video, which spread quickly on social media, shows PM Modi dreaming of his mother scolding him about his political decisions.
The complaint came from Sanket Gupta, who heads the BJP’s Delhi Election Cell. It accuses the Congress of violating several laws under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, including sections on promoting enmity, defamation, and outraging the modesty of women. Gupta called the post a major breach of ethics and respect for women.
This controversy erupted when the official INC Bihar account shared the AI video on X (formerly Twitter) on September 10. The clip has gone viral, drawing sharp criticism from the BJP. It comes amid rising tensions between the ruling party and opposition groups like Congress and RJD.
Just days earlier, during a Congress-led Voter Adhikar Yatra in Bihar’s Darbhanga, an unidentified person climbed on stage and hurled abuses at PM Modi and his mother. This incident fueled the BJP’s strong backlash against Congress and RJD leaders, including Rahul Gandhi and Tejashwi Yadav.
PM Modi himself addressed the issue at a recent event, slamming the opposition for the alleged insults. "Mother is our world. Mother is our self-respect," he said emotionally. "I never imagined such a thing would happen in the culturally rich state of Bihar. My mother, who lived to 100 and stayed away from politics, faced abuses from RJD and Congress. This isn’t just an attack on her—it’s an insult to every mother, sister, and daughter in India."
