A heartbreaking road accident in Uttar Pradesh’s Jaunpur district claimed four lives and left nine others injured early Monday morning. The crash happened when a tourist bus packed with pilgrims from Chhattisgarh slammed into an oncoming trailer near Sihipur railway crossing.
The bus, with registration number CG07CT4681, was heading from Ayodhya to Varanasi as part of a religious tour. Around 50 passengers were on board, all from Chhattisgarh, when the driver lost control. The trailer, numbered BR28GD1475, was trying to overtake at the time, leading to the head-on collision under the Line Bazar police station area.
Superintendent of Police Dr. Kaustubh Kumar rushed to the scene and oversaw the rescue operations. “Police arrived quickly and began helping right away,” he said. “Four people died on the spot, and nine suffered injuries. We’ve sent those with minor wounds home safely with their things.” Emergency teams and locals jumped in to aid the victims, turning the spot into a frenzy of activity.
Rescue workers quickly shifted the injured to nearby hospitals for urgent care. The four deceased pilgrims haven’t been identified yet, but police are reaching out to their families in Chhattisgarh. This tragedy hits hard for the group, who were on a spiritual journey visiting key holy sites like Ayodhya and Varanasi.
Jaunpur has been pushing a road safety campaign lately after several recent accidents. Officials keep reminding drivers to stay alert and follow rules to prevent such mishaps.
