Union Minister of Coal and Mines G. Kishan Reddy launched a new uniform Corporate Salary Package (CSP) and boosted ex-gratia benefits for Coal India workers on Tuesday. This move aims to boost the welfare, safety, and dignity of coal miners and staff across the board, straight from the Ministry of Coal.

These steps, crafted under the Ministry’s watchful eye, focus on giving coal workers better financial security and social support. Whether they’re toiling in underground mines, open-cast sites, or office setups, everyone benefits. It’s all about inclusive growth and putting workers first, just like Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision for employee welfare and national development. Coal workers power India’s energy security, and these changes ensure they get the respect and protection they deserve.

Under Coal India’s “We Care” program, the ex-gratia payout for families in case of mine accident deaths jumps from Rs 15 lakh to Rs 25 lakh. This applies to both regular staff and contract workers, with direct payments to families for quick, hassle-free help. While the goal is zero accidents, this hike shows Coal India’s commitment to standing by affected families with compassion.

The star of the show is the Corporate Salary Package, themed “Suraksha Har Karmchaari Ki – United in Security, Empowered for the Future.” It brings top-notch banking perks and insurance to make life easier for coal workers and their loved ones. Regular employees get Rs 1 crore personal accident cover, while contract workers receive Rs 40 lakh. Already, 2.15 lakh regular staff and 44,000 contract workers have signed up—no premiums needed, all handled through tie-ups with ten public sector banks and Chhattisgarh State Gramin Bank.

On top of that, a fresh uniform rollout unites the team with a sense of pride and professionalism. From mine depths to desks, it builds a strong safety culture and shared identity for the entire Coal India family.

These welfare initiatives set a high bar for employee care in India’s coal sector. By blending financial safety nets, accident support, and team spirit, Coal India is motivating its workforce and strengthening the backbone of the country’s energy needs.
