BJP Slams Congress Over Sam Pitroda’s Pakistan Remarks, Demands Gandhi Family Apology

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) fired strong shots at the Congress party on Friday, calling out their silence on controversial comments by Sam Pitroda, the Indian Overseas Congress chief. BJP leaders are demanding an immediate apology from the Gandhi family, accusing them of cozying up to Pakistan-linked figures.

At a press conference in New Delhi, BJP national spokesperson Pradeep Bhandari didn’t hold back. He questioned Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi directly: "Why did you stay quiet when former Pakistani cricketer Shahid Afridi called Rahul your idol? Lashkar-e-Taiba wanted talks with Congress—why the silence? And now Sam Pitroda says Pakistan feels like home to him. Your silence means you agree!"

Bhandari went further, claiming these remarks insult Indian soldiers and the 140 crore people of India. "Can any true patriot call a terror state like Pakistan ‘home’? Sam Pitroda has been a close advisor to the Gandhi family for 30 years, shaping their strategy. This isn’t just his words—Congress is behind it," he said. He labeled the statements "anti-national" and tied them to past claims, like terrorists praising Rahul Gandhi and Congress’s alleged links to figures like Hafiz Saeed and Yasin Malik.

The BJP spokesperson accused Congress of putting "Pakistan-prem" (love for Pakistan) over "Desh-prem" (love for the nation). "During Congress rule, terrorists boasted of talks with them. Every Pakistani terrorist glorifies Rahul Gandhi and Congress. Their policies scream Pakistan loyalty, not India first," Bhandari added. He even pointed to a recent affidavit by Yasin Malik, alleging Congress wanted meetings with Hafiz Saeed involving the Prime Minister’s Office back then.

This all stems from Sam Pitroda’s recent media comments, where he described visiting Pakistan and feeling right at home. The remarks have sparked a major political row, with BJP using them to highlight what they see as Congress’s soft stance on national security and India-Pakistan relations.

In response, Congress leader Pawan Khera brushed off the controversy. He said he’s not aware of Pitroda’s exact words but hit back at the BJP’s ideological parent, the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). "RSS always talks about Akhand Bharat (undivided India), but when someone else echoes similar sentiments, they lose it. I haven’t heard what Pitroda said," Khera told reporters.

The clash comes amid ongoing India-Pakistan tensions, and it’s sure to fuel more debates on patriotism, Congress-BJP rivalry, and the role of overseas leaders in Indian politics. As the 2024 elections heat up, expect this Pakistan controversy to dominate headlines.
