Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma celebrated Teachers’ Day by highlighting the importance of teachers in shaping society’s future. During a special ceremony at Birla Auditorium, he called teachers the true architects of life and emphasized that their role goes beyond just sharing knowledge—they build character and inspire dreams.
The event started with a moment of silence in memory of children who lost their lives in the Peeplodi accident, showing the compassion and respect the state has for its youth.
CM Sharma paid tribute to Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, a renowned philosopher and former President of India, reminding everyone that education is about understanding life and building values. “Education doesn’t just make us smarter, it helps us grow as better individuals,” he said. He also shared inspirational words from Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, saying that a good teacher is like a library—full of knowledge and wisdom that can change lives.
He stressed that teachers are more than just educators—they are dream-makers, hope-givers, and life-guides. Children often learn their values—like truth, kindness, patriotism, and humility—by observing their teachers. Sharma pointed out that in India’s rich tradition, mentors and gurus like Dronacharya and Chanakya have played vital roles in shaping society, emphasizing the deep cultural connection between teachers and lifelong guides.
Talking about Rajasthan’s legacy, CM Sharma highlighted the state’s historical contribution to knowledge and science. From the astronomical marvel of Jantar Mantar in Jaipur to spiritual centers in Pushkar and Mount Abu, Rajasthan has always been a hub of learning and culture. Even today, folk songs and stories continue to pass down wisdom through generations.
The Rajasthan government has taken significant steps to improve education. Over 20,000 new teaching jobs have been created, and more than 18,000 teacher posts are being filled. Thousands of promotions and the establishment of over 8,000 smart classrooms across 4,000 schools aim to modernize learning. Many students have received free tablets with internet access to support digital education, and live classes are held regularly through the popular e-Pathshala WhatsApp channel.
Financial support to students has also increased. Scholarships worth hundreds of crores are being distributed under various schemes, helping meritorious students, girls’ students, and those in need. For example, Rs 174 crore has been given under the Chief Minister Anuprati Coaching Scheme, and Rs 4 crore under the Merit Scholarship Scheme. Additionally, thousands of girls have received Scooty schemes to encourage higher education.
The government has also focused on youth empowerment by providing skill training to over three lakh young people and approving over 1.7 lakh new jobs under the Chief Minister Yuva Sambal Yojana.
Concluding his speech, CM Sharma praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the positive changes happening in Rajasthan and across India. He reaffirmed that honoring teachers, promoting education, and empowering students remain key priorities for the Rajasthan government, laying the foundation for a bright and prosperous future.
