The news of the day came from Bhubaneswar on Monday, when Odisha’s top leaders sent Diwali wishes to the public. The state Governor, Hari Babu Kambhampati, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi and Leader of the Opposition Naveen Patnaik all used X (formerly Twitter) and video messages to share their greetings for the festival of lights.
Governor Kambhampati tweeted, “Heartfelt greetings and congratulations to all on the auspicious occasion of the sacred #Deepavali. The Deepavali festival is a symbol of the victory of light over darkness and of righteousness over evil. On this sacred occasion, I pray for the happiness, peace, and prosperity of all. Happy Deepavali.” The governor’s message emphasizes the spirit of the holiday and wishes everyone well.
Chief Minister Majhi also sent his best wishes. He posted a video that said, “I extend my good wishes and greetings to the people of Odisha on the occasion of the festival of light and joy. The light of knowledge saves the human being from the darkness of ignorance. The festival of Deepavali inspires us to welcome a beautiful and progressive future with new hope, new dreams, and a new aim.” In the same video, the CM highlighted the importance of truth and justice and urged the public to celebrate a pollution‑free, green Deepavali. He encouraged people to honor nature and to spread compassion, forgiveness, and love during the celebration.
Leader of the Opposition Naveen Patnaik also shared his Diwali greetings on X. “I extend my greetings on the occasion of the festival of lights, Deepavali. May this occasion of joy and jubilation fill everyone’s life with happiness and prosperity,” he wrote. In a video addressed to residents of Nuapada, where by‑polls will be held on November 11, Patnaik wished the locals a happy Deepavali and announced a visit to the constituency soon to campaign for BJD candidate Snehangini Chhuria.
The messages from Odisha’s leaders underline the traditional meanings of Diwali—to celebrate light over darkness and righteousness over evil—while also encouraging eco‑friendly celebrations. The emphasis on green Deepavali reflects the state’s growing focus on pollution reduction and environmental stewardship.
