PM Modi Greets Nation on Hindi Diwas: A Proud Moment for Indian Languages
New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi shared warm wishes with Indians on Hindi Diwas, calling the rising global love for Hindi a huge source of pride. This special day, celebrated every September 14, marks the historic moment in 1949 when India’s Constituent Assembly chose Hindi as one of the official languages during the Constitution’s drafting.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), PM Modi said, "Heartfelt greetings to all on Hindi Diwas. Hindi is not just a way to communicate—it’s a lively part of our identity and values." He encouraged everyone to nurture Hindi alongside other Indian languages and pass them proudly to the next generation. "The growing respect for Hindi worldwide inspires us all," he added, highlighting how Hindi Diwas unites the nation through its rich heritage.
Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda echoed these sentiments on X, wishing everyone on Hindi Day. "Hindi isn’t just a language; it’s a symbol of Indian culture and a strong carrier of our traditions, values, and ideals," Nadda posted. He pointed out Hindi’s key role in the freedom struggle, where it wove the country together in unity. "Hindi will keep playing a big part in nation-building, right alongside our diverse regional languages," he noted.
Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar also joined in, posting on X to celebrate Hindi Diwas. He said the language "ties all Indians together in unity and has played a massive role in keeping our country strong." Kumar called Hindi the heartbeat of our national spirit and a powerful way to express our shared thoughts. "Let’s aim for Hindi’s all-round growth as our official language," he urged. In Bihar, Hindi serves as the go-to language for government work, and Kumar advised people to embrace it in daily life—learn it, use it, and take pride in it.
Hindi Diwas reminds us of our linguistic diversity and how languages like Hindi bridge cultures across India and beyond. As leaders unite in this celebration, it’s a call to cherish and promote our official languages for a brighter future.
