New Delhi, Nov 16 – In celebration of the 150th birth anniversary of India’s “Iron Man,” Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, a nationwide unity march drew crowds and speeches in cities across the country. The events carried the government’s message of “Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat,” the slogan of national integration.
In Gujarat, Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghvi led a massive march in Surat’s Majura Assembly constituency. “Prime Minister Modi has shown us a historic vision of unity after the NDA’s landslide win in Bihar,” Sanghvi said as he walked the 8‑kilometre route. He added that Modi’s call had united people from Kashmir to Kanyakumari in honoring Sardar Patel. “Everywhere I look, people salute Sardar Saheb’s statue with pride. All communities and sections of society join in,” he told .
Celebrations in other states echoed the same spirit. In Gujarat’s Ekta Nagar, the world’s tallest statue—Statue of Unity—attracted attention when filmmaker Boney Kapoor visited to pay tribute to Patel, boosting media coverage and public interest.
Uttar Pradesh hosted a large Tiranga Yatra in Gonda’s Gaura Assembly constituency under the “Run for Unity” programme. Union Minister of State for External Affairs Kirti Vardhan Singh and State Prison Minister Dara Singh Chauhan led the march, drawing enthusiastic local participation.
In Rajasthan, BJP leaders in Kota organised a “padyatra,” emphasising national integration. Party workers, youth groups and citizens walked in tribute to Patel’s unifying legacy.
Ahmedabad staged one of the day’s biggest gatherings. A 2,000‑foot Tiranga Yatra, a bullet‑bike rally, and a grand Unity March in the Nikol area showcased Patel’s enduring influence. Senior leaders — Ministers Jitu Bhai Vaghani, Darshan Vaghela, State BJP President Jagdish Panchal, along with several MLAs and MPs — joined the march to reaffirm Patel’s title as the “Iron Man of India.”
Across the nation, these events highlighted how Patel’s vision continues to shape India’s unity and development agenda.
